Not So wonderful words this Wednesday

Ok so today my post is dedicated to all who shop at the Jasper Indiana Walmart, what a special group of people, and not special in a good way but special in the stop eating the paste kinda way.

Dear Lazy lady who changed their child somewhere in the Walmart store and left the poopy diaper on the bottom of the cart,
Thanks for sharing the joys of children with us this Holiday season. You really gave me something to look forward to.

Dear Amish/ Mennonite People who are bussed in by the hundreds,
Be Nice!! Thanks for reminding us that simplicity includes Walmart electronics inclusive of portable dvd players and pre-paid cell phones, oh yeah and one more thing BE NICE!!

Dear Checkout girl who proved ignorance is true bliss,
Thank you for giving me an opportunity to practice my Spanish and for the reminder that just because you don't speak English you are still human and do deserve as much respect as any other customer. Perhaps when your checking out Hispanic people you should remember that!! And also it wasn't their fault that you didn't know what cilantro was. Have a blissful holiday!

Dear Crazy Man in the parking lot driving a huge truck with the Confederate flag decal across the back window,
You may have wanted my parking space and your impatience was made crystal clear when I went three spaces down to return my cart to the cart receptacle and you threw your hands up off your steering wheel and mouthed a few choice words at me.... I'm going to choose to think you were just wishing me a Merry Christmas.

It just amazes me how much the Christmas Season has lost, we are so afraid to not offend someone that we have stopped sharing the true reason for Christmas, the birth of our Lord and Savior. Truly when walking around Walmart for one hour today I couldn't find Christmas Spirit anywhere, it was sooooo upsetting. People are so focused on giving gifts that they have forgotten why were giving.
So now I am gonna go plug in our tree lights and watch Eloise at the Plaza, hopefully I wont be such a Scrooge after this dose of Christmas spirit!

Ok... So I am Batman.

I'd like to dedicate this post to all of my friends out there who are married. Its not easy being married and this joke is so funny I had to share it with you all!

-Three friends were out to lunch, all dishing about their relationships. One friend had a boyfriend, another was newly engaged, and the third was married. They all decided that things in the bedroom needed to be spiced up so all together they went to a lingerie shop. After careful shopping and trying on all three decided on the same outfit, a black bra, black lacy panties, and black thigh high stockings. All three women decided to go home and try it out on their partners with the promise that they would get together tomorrow and dish all about their nights.
The next day
-The three women sat at the same table they had lunch the day before and started talking about their nights. The girl with the boyfriend confessed about a night filled with hot passionate love making, the second raved how her and her fiance made love all night long and they were very tired today, while the married girl just sighed and smiled to herself....
"When my husband got home I was sitting on the couch in my sexy black lingerie, he looked me up and down and said "What's for dinner Batman?"
hahah I just think this is sooo funny! Sometimes you can put so much effort into something and your spouse has absolutely no idea! It happens around here all the time! My husband is so wonderful in so many other ways, it makes up for it, but in the mean time I'm sometimes happy to be Batman!

Wonderful Word on a Wednesday

So this time of year I think it is really easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle of Christmas, all the shopping, traveling, and gifts make it really easy to loose sight of the real meaning of Christmas and the one gift that we should all be eternally thankful for..
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
James 1:17
Thanks be to god for his indescribable gift!
2 Corinthians
I'm praying that everyone has a wonderful holiday season filled with love and family!

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

I thought in order to spread some Christmas cheer i would share our holiday decorating! I had so much fun decorating our first home for Christmas both inside and out!

Even chip got i on the holiday decor!
My favorite, my mom got Patrick and I needlepoint stockings last year for Christmas!

A holiday use for an apothecary jar! Put some snow and cheesy little fake people and make a Christmas scene! I love it!

Garland!!! I didn't buy pre-decorated garland because we needed a lot and its super expensive. For the amount I needed it would have been 500.00... So instead I got the cheap pre-lit and some inexpensive fake poinsettia bushes some bows and borrowed some ornaments from the tree and voila! Instant garland for right around 50.00~!

Here is my favorite holiday craft idea. We had some blank space to fill and nothing to fill it so i bought these cheap frames from walmart 3.00 each and a can of gold spray paint 2.50 and then i dry brushed a little red craft paint over the top and stuck some our favorite Christmas cards from last year in there for 8.50 two great pieces of art, and i still have left over spray paint!

Our tree, I stuck with red and gold throughout the whole house, just use what you got!

Outside: I did the same thing with Garland super easy!!

Our lights! Ohh how I love Christmas!

I hope everyone out there is having just as much fun as me decorating for Christmas! Enjoy this time of year with your friends and family because before you know it it'll be over!

Wonderful Words on a Wednesday

Thanksgiving with a twist...

Seeing our father in everything makes life one long Thanksgiving and gives a rest of heart.

Thanksgiving is a time of quiet reflection upon the past and an annual reminder that God has, again, been ever so faithful. The solid simple things of life are brought into clear focus.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families. Patrick and I are off to Louisville to stay with my mother and were so excited!

finally finished

Ok so I finally completed the bathroom. Well it was painted and technically finished before but, I really wanted to replace the large scale poppy picture with something else...

Before: the fresh paint and bead board looks great but the picture just wasn't doing it for me!

After: I found this beautiful Italian hand made paper at the lovely store where I work and just put it into a cheap frame from Garden Ridge. Then I needed some additional towel storage since we don't have a linen closet I feel like we are so limited on our space so we added the ready-made Target wall shelf, and I love it. Then my favorite part... I kept telling everyone I wanted a mason jar to put flowers in for the shelf, but I you wanna buy a mason/ball jar you have to buy like 20 so i didn't wanna be wasteful instead I bought this vintage bottle at the store where I work, and filled it with some fresh lavender (conveniently stolen, snipped right off the plant in front of the store. Thank you Jasper) which i hope will dry and stay nice! Sorry about the picture quality its such a hard room with no natural light and so many reflective surfaces!

I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend!

Wonerful Words on a Wednesday

Our Creator would never have made such lovely days, and given us the hearts to enjoy them above all thought, unless we were meant to be immortal- Nathaniel Hawthorne

A splendid Sunday

I just thought I'd share the recipe for my perfect day with you...
It's always a Sunday

Eating a candlelight dinner with my husband
And finally snuggling in to watch Extreme Home Makeover and Desperate Housewives
Finishing with a few chapters of New Moon before bed!

Wonderful words on a Wednesday

Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything that is beautiful, for beauty is God's handwriting- a wayside sacrament .
Welcome it in every fair face, in every fair sky, in every flow, and thank God for it as a cup of blessing.

Paper Anniversary...

Our frozen Cake topper, not as pretty as the real cake but just as tasty!

This weekend Patrick and I celebrated our one year anniversary with a relaxing weekend getaway to his parents house. Some people might think I'm crazy for wanting to spend our anniversary with my in-laws, but they have an amazing house out in the country, no cell phone reception and Mrs. Rice (my m-i-l) waits on us hand and foot... needless to say sooooo relaxing. I just can't believe that it has been a whole year since Patrick and I got married. Some people say that getting married is the happiest day of your life, but I feel so blessed because everyday I wake up next to Patrick is happier than the day before.
When I look back at the last year I get choked up because so much has changed, we moved to a tiny apartment in Jasper on the third floor of a house with no washing machine and limited heat, then we got a puppy, then we bought a new house, struggled with some on going health problems and in the mean time we have been really focusing on trying to start our own family. We have had some ups and downs, but i am soo fortunate that the ups far out number the downs.Remembering my wedding day is still pretty easy for me, I've heard over time that the details start to become fuzzy. However my photographer did an amazing job so I'll always have so photo reminders of the day. I thought i'd share some of my favorites from the wedding...

My flowers, my mom and I searched antique stores for the Sapphire broach.
Something old & Something blue.

My shoes, anyone who knows me knows I live in flats and my wedding day was no exception. My dad's wonderful girlfriend got me the clips to dress up the shoes.

Catching up!

So it's been a little while since my last post but so much is going on in my life I don't even know where to begin! I LOVE my new job, well I've been there two weeks so it's not exactly new anymore! It is the most amazing creative environment and my boss is sooo passionate about so many things, she is really an inspiration. Bathroom, Before and After

Our Bathroom before...

Don't get me wrong I do love my house and I feel so blessed that we have a new home, but our bathroom needed some TLC! Before it had the same color walls as our master bedroom. This color is a really dark shade of green, it doesn't photo well it was really dark and our bathroom in small and no windows so it looked like a cave! The only thing we had done at this point is take down the large builder mirror and put up the two oval mirrors.

The lovely light bar... so special! (you can really see how dark the walls are here!) Everyone watch out an amateur electrician at work taking down the light bar! (btw if anyone wants the lovely light bar just let me know I would be so happy to donate it and all its heat bulbs!...hahaha)The new light, so I know its an outdoor light... but I love it! The hubs wasn't sold at the store, but it really does look cool!Before- no bead board.
After- Bead Board, still not painted or filled in this picture. I just love it though it makes a substantial impact on a small budget and its super easy to install!

Complete: Although you can't tell from the photos the color is so light and bright. It's Antique White from Behr and I absolutely love how it turned out! It look so much bigger and brighter!

I still wanna get a new picture or shelf or both for above this towel rack... I'm on the lookout!

Side by side before and after!
All for under 180$!
Were on to the fence this weekend! Please pray!!!
God Bless,
Cassie
