Wonderful Words on a Wednesday

Thanksgiving with a twist...

Seeing our father in everything makes life one long Thanksgiving and gives a rest of heart.
Hannah Whitall Smith
Thanksgiving is a time of quiet reflection upon the past and an annual reminder that God has, again, been ever so faithful. The solid simple things of life are brought into clear focus.
Charles R. Swindoll
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families. Patrick and I are off to Louisville to stay with my mother and were so excited!
God Bless,

finally finished

Ok so I finally completed the bathroom. Well it was painted and technically finished before but, I really wanted to replace the large scale poppy picture with something else...

Before: the fresh paint and bead board looks great but the picture just wasn't doing it for me!

After: I found this beautiful Italian hand made paper at the lovely store where I work and just put it into a cheap frame from Garden Ridge. Then I needed some additional towel storage since we don't have a linen closet I feel like we are so limited on our space so we added the ready-made Target wall shelf, and I love it. Then my favorite part... I kept telling everyone I wanted a mason jar to put flowers in for the shelf, but I you wanna buy a mason/ball jar you have to buy like 20 so i didn't wanna be wasteful instead I bought this vintage bottle at the store where I work, and filled it with some fresh lavender (conveniently stolen, snipped right off the plant in front of the store. Thank you Jasper) which i hope will dry and stay nice! Sorry about the picture quality its such a hard room with no natural light and so many reflective surfaces!

I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend!

Wonerful Words on a Wednesday

Our Creator would never have made such lovely days, and given us the hearts to enjoy them above all thought, unless we were meant to be immortal- Nathaniel Hawthorne

A splendid Sunday

I just thought I'd share the recipe for my perfect day with you...
It's always a Sunday
With a 9 a.m. Mass
Followed by a pancake breakfast
A trip to Walgreen's where the cosmetics lady and I had a wonderful conversation
Cleaning my house top to bottom
Hanging up Christmas Lights outside and enjoying peppermint hot chocolate
Eating a candlelight dinner with my husband
And finally snuggling in to watch Extreme Home Makeover and Desperate Housewives
Finishing with a few chapters of New Moon before bed!

This is my recipe for a perfect day
Hope everyone has a blessed day!

Wonderful words on a Wednesday

Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything that is beautiful, for beauty is God's handwriting- a wayside sacrament .
Welcome it in every fair face, in every fair sky, in every flow, and thank God for it as a cup of blessing.

Paper Anniversary...

Our frozen Cake topper, not as pretty as the real cake but just as tasty!

This weekend Patrick and I celebrated our one year anniversary with a relaxing weekend getaway to his parents house. Some people might think I'm crazy for wanting to spend our anniversary with my in-laws, but they have an amazing house out in the country, no cell phone reception and Mrs. Rice (my m-i-l) waits on us hand and foot... needless to say sooooo relaxing. I just can't believe that it has been a whole year since Patrick and I got married. Some people say that getting married is the happiest day of your life, but I feel so blessed because everyday I wake up next to Patrick is happier than the day before.
When I look back at the last year I get choked up because so much has changed, we moved to a tiny apartment in Jasper on the third floor of a house with no washing machine and limited heat, then we got a puppy, then we bought a new house, struggled with some on going health problems and in the mean time we have been really focusing on trying to start our own family. We have had some ups and downs, but i am soo fortunate that the ups far out number the downs.Remembering my wedding day is still pretty easy for me, I've heard over time that the details start to become fuzzy. However my photographer did an amazing job so I'll always have so photo reminders of the day. I thought i'd share some of my favorites from the wedding...

My flowers, my mom and I searched antique stores for the Sapphire broach.
Something old & Something blue.

My shoes, anyone who knows me knows I live in flats and my wedding day was no exception. My dad's wonderful girlfriend got me the clips to dress up the shoes.
